Good news ! You are not a small baby.
Well, the OB has got both MummyLo and DaddyLo worried when he said to me that my tummy is quite petite and he would like to do a routine scan to determine the size and weight of the baby in case it is a bit small. So, on the 5/2/08, MummyLo and DaddyLo went together to the Fetal Welfare lab at Westmead Public Hospital to get a proper measurement. After about 15mins of measuring and re-measuring with ultrasound scan, the results showed that you are a medium size baby, with everything spot on in the mid-range. Excellent ! You are now 2.7kg and your estimated birth weight will be 3.4kg if you reached the 40weeks full term. MummyLo is just ecstatic that I am not over-starving you even though DaddyLo always complain that I don't eat enough to feed you. I wanna be a hot mama you see, and I don't wanna put on excessive weight if I don't need to, as long as you come out happy and healthy, then it's all fine.
MummyLo went to have the OB checkup today and you have changed position, now you are prodominately on the left side and your head is partly engaged too. Hmm.. that may explain why I have been feeling a sharp pelvic pain whenever you move.
Another new bubby is born, QQ and DD, our two cockatiels finally successfully hatched a chick today. DaddyLo told me early in the morning that we are grandparents. I rushed down to spot a cute little gray chick in the nesting box. There are now 4 more eggs remaining, see babyLo, these birds are only going to be weeks older than you.
This week is my last working week in the lab, can't wait to stay home and do something different. It will be Chinese New Year tomorrow, if you don't come by tonight, then you will be born in the Year of the Rat. Alright, be good now !

Guess what we did after visiting Ryan
BabyLo, after visiting little Ryan, DaddyLo and MummyLo went to hunt for where we should go when it is time for you to come. We went to the Westmead Public Hospital main entrance, looked at all the signs for "birth" and "maternity" trying to find where exactly we should go. It was 9pm then, and everything was closed with no one around. We went up to Level 3, following the signs that said "Birth Unit" and after walking through a long long corridor, it leads to another sign that directs us to "Birth Unit". It seems like a never ending corridor, and MummyLo was joking to DaddyLo that when the time has come for you, I might end up giving birth on the way to walking to the birth unit because it was so far. At the end, we reached a closed door which says that we need to buzz-in to go in. We then walked back to the elevator to get to the "Maternity ward". Again, it was dark and deserted. We saw two ladies, both looking pregnant and waiting at the waiting bay. DaddyLo went out bravely to the ladies and asked them "If my wife water broke, is this the place to go?". They both turned to me with wide eyes. So I quickly turned to them and told them "Oh, I am not ready yet, we are just asking in advance." Those ladies muttered something and said they don't really know. So DaddyLo went into the maternity ward reception and asked the nurse there where we should go when the time comes. So from then on, we did a practice run of where to go when you come. Now hopefully you will come during good working hours so that hospital will still have lights on and people around and we won't be panicking trying to find people.
Babylo, your new friend has arrived.

22-1-08 at 5:45pm
Babylo, guess what, we went to the Westmead private today to visit your little friend. Wendy and Meng gave birth to a 4.1kg, 52cm long baby named Ryan. We were so excited to see this little newborn, knowing that in weeks time, it will be you that we are going to be looking at. Wendy looked fine after the 16hrs long labour pain and I think she is doing a good recovery from it. The hospital maternity ward was crowded with her friends and family and everyone is happy snapping at the little new born. I know that you probably won't be as big as this little one, but hopefully you will grow up fast too. Everyone says that I have a small tummy and that you are going to be a small baby, but Dr Chua assured me that you are going to be average size and every woman is different. So I am not worried. As long as you are healthy and happy, DaddyLo and MummyLo will be happy. DaddyLo and MummyLo went to Baby R Us the other day and bought you some Huggies Newborn nappies at a special price of $30. Altogether we bought 3 boxes of 108, hopefully that will last you till you are 5kgs. DaddyLo was also able to hunt down your bathtub for you yesterday. We have been all around different stores trying to find it when it was on special, finally, DaddyLo found this Fischer Price Aquarium for $39.99.
We have already set up your cot now next to our bed, and your little mobile to be placed on the cot. DaddyLo was so frustrated while assembling it that he sweared that nothing made in China are good. Lucky you were made in Japan.

When are you coming BabyLo?
While sitting down for dinner with GrannyMak, GrandmaLo, GrandpaLo and DaddyLo last night for dinner. We were talking about when you will be coming... yes we are all wondering about the same questions. Now, at 33 weeks, you will have 7 weeks to go till we meet you? But would you be on time or will you be early or late ? Mummylo is still preparing herself for your arrival and granny mak won't be back in Australia till mid Feb. So hopefully you will come when everyone is around !
Found some very useful websites and podcasts lately since DaddyLo bought me an Ipod nano for Christmas. MummyLo has been busy downloading podcasts to listen to and accidently came across a site called Pregtastic (www.pregtastic.com) where they have a board of expectant mothers talking about pregnancy pleasure and blues. Even though BabyLo didn't give MummyLo any hard time during the pregnancy, MummyLo still has to prepare herself for the next big thing - which is the scariest chapter in all pregnancy books- "Labour, pain relief, Episiotomy, vaginal tearing, breast-feeding". I have left all these readings till now so that I won't be stressed over the whole birthing issue. Don't worry, your MummyLo is abit better than before now that I know a bit more, I guess anticipating your arrival should ease my pain.
DaddyLo has spotted a little bouncer for you on special today, but we shall wait a little to get you the best suitable one. He has already got you a baby gym mat, 2very cute mobiles to hang on your cot and a big Lightning McQueen soft toy car. GrannyMak has bought most of your clothes, knitted some extra clothes, made you a "Petter the rabbit" blanket and a lot of little beanies and socks. MummyLo and DaddyLo will soon assemble your bed so that when you do come, we will be ready for you.
Now, what would you like your chinese name to be. MummyLo is really having a hard time choosing the best possible chinese name for you since there are so many rules for chinese names and so many to consider with the five elements. DaddyLo and MummyLo both like the word "Lok" to be part of your name, a symbol for "happiness". However, GrandpaLo and GrandMaLo do not quite like the name. Now we will have to think of some better combination to make everyone happy.
Perhaps you can give me a kick if you like the name.
Sleep tight and be good now, MummyLo is going to take a shower !
