Week 20 - Mini-me basketballer

DaddyLo is doing it again.

Putting the pressure on his son to be a basketballer.

He got him the outfit .. and now .. he really looks his Mini-me.

There it is, the youngest basketballer for team RIP ( hmm .. MummyLo really doesn't like that name)

Week 20 - Yum cha with Great grandma

Sunday, we decided to take great grandma to yum cha together with GrandaddyLo and GrandmaLo. GrandaddyLo even have to giveup his day of singing chinese opera just to see his crybaby grandson. Oh well, at least BabyLo smiled for the photos.

Week 20 - The shape sorter

The shape sorter is designed for babies at 12months and older. Since BabyLo seems intrigued by this toy, MummyLo decided to open up this new toy for him.

Babies are meant to sort the different shapes into the same shaped
hole in the cubes.

BabyLo was very interested in the shapes.

He held the shapes tight in his hands.

thought for a while....

and placed the shape into the hole.

yes, straight into this hole.. his mouth

Week 19 - Food , glorious food

MummyLo remembered saying that BabyLo has slept though the night before. But not for long, after a week of sleeping 6-7hrs. BabyLo has got back to the usual, waking up 2 times at night to have a feed. It was 2 weeks ago .. when BabyLo started to get up more frequently at night to have nightfeeds.

But this week .. at 4 month and 2 weeks, BabyLo was constantly hungry. The usual 10pm sleep became a nap of half an hour and waking up shortly after, screaming in hunger. Then, BabyLo will wake up again at 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am , 8am .. so on ...
Dying from exhaustion and drained with what is in me.. MummyLo was determined to give BabyLo solid food. Even though I have been warned many times by media and baby consultants that the best time to introduce food is at 6 months.. it seems like it is not the case for this big boy of mine.

According to many other useful resources that are in my favour, if your baby can do this and that .. then you can feed him solids.

How will I know when my baby's ready?

Your baby will give you clear signs when he's ready to move beyond liquid-only nourishment. Cues to look for include:

• Head control. Your baby needs to be able to keep his head in a steady, upright position.

• Losing the "extrusion reflex." To keep solid food in his mouth and then swallow it, your baby needs to stop using his tongue to push food out of his mouth.

• Sitting well when supported. Even if he's not quite ready for a highchair, your baby needs to be able to sit upright to swallow well.

• Chewing motions. Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow. As he learns to swallow efficiently, you may notice less drooling. He may also be teething around the same time.

• Significant weight gain. Most babies are ready to eat solids when they've doubled their birth weight (or weigh about 15 pounds) and are at least 4 months old.

• Growing appetite. He seems hungry — even with eight to ten feedings of breast milk or formula a day.

• Curiosity about what you're eating. Your baby may begin eyeing your bowl of rice or reaching for a forkful of fettuccine as it travels from your plate to your mouth.

tick, tick, tick , tick... so MummyLo decided my first attempt to introduce BabyLo with solids. He LOVES it ! Every time the spoon was offered to him, he would dive for it ! see for yourself

19 weeks - Food central at Sen&Lek's

After yum cha with Little Ryan and co. we went to Uncle Senri's house for the most fabulous home-cooked meal. Everything was made with top ingredients and was so fabulous that we all craved for more.

We gathered around the stove..

Red cabbage with roast duck

Sea urchin butter with fresh scallops

Squid, scampi, yabbies, mussels with black ink paella rice

Week 19 - Sumo Match

Remember the little boy named Ryan that MummyLo and DaddyLo went to visit a month and a half before you were born? The big boy that was born 4.1kg ?
Now, BabyLo is already catching up to him.
A side by side match with the two bubs. Ryan is now 8.8kg and BabyLo is 8.2kg.
Now the get-together lunch is piling up with more prams between our seats as there are more and more babies along the way. The usual catch-up talks now revolves around the baby's activities. Yes.. everything is about the baby. It might be boring for others and even MummyLo finds it amusing that people can talk about their babies all the time. But being a mum myself, it is hard to control when you see other mums. As there is no strict rules and no manuals for these little creatures, the best way to learn how to raise them is to learn off all the new-mums.

BabyLo was much interested in Little Ryan ... and even .. held his hand. DaddyLo said that this will be your first and last gay encounter.. no more hand-holdings with boys.

Match with the Dads..

Now match with the mums

18 weeks - DaddyLo's mysterious weight gain

Since DaddyLo became a Dad, he has been putting on weight.

Yes, kilos worth.

The doctor said that he is putting on weight.

The Wii fit confirms that...

And his friends said that he has now got the Daddy's belly...

Some say that a happily married man will put on weight....

It was till tonight that MummyLo understood why DaddyLo has gained such weight...

That explains it ... man pregnancy

18 weeks - Mum's group

This week is MummyLo's second time to our local Mum's group. The idea of Mum's group was not too exciting to MummyLo initially. MummyLo never thought I would like the idea of hanging out with Mums and raving on about our babies all day long. But surprisingly, it turned out to be a good experience so far. MummyLo get to find out all about the "what-to-do" and "what-ifs" with other Mums. It is always good to find out that other mums have babies that don't require much sleep either.
So this week for Mum's group, it's all about the introduction of solids at 6 months and what to do. MummyLo can't wait till I can feed you solids and keep you full throughout your night sleep.

Here we all lie our babies down on the rug. BabyLo has grew fond of the little baby girl named Monique right next to him. She is a few days older than BabyLo. BabyLo couldn't keep his hands off her and kept reaching out to grab the girl's hand.

How sweet...

18 weeks - DaddyLo hit the big three zero

This year is the first year to celebrate DaddyLo's birthday as a family of 8 (pets inclusive). Running up to his special day, we have shared the birthday celebration with our lovely neighbour by filling our tummies with wonderful fresh seafood at the Sydney Fish markets.

Scampies ... oooooohhhh ..... sweet scampi.MummyLo's top favourite seafood.

What else is on the list.
Salmon sashimi, yellow-fin tuna sashimi, abalone sashimi, scallop sashimi, cooked prawns, big coffin bay pacific oysters and japanese wakame. Yummy !
