BabyLo's birth day

6am in the morning, a slight cramp in the tummy. What could it be? The sashimi that I ate last night ? 6:15am, MummyLo felt it again. With half excitement and half uncertainty. MummyLo kept this pain to herself. It was a strange cramping sensation, like a tummy cramp. To be certain, MummyLo went to open her bowels in case it was just that. 6:35am, should I tell DaddyLo ? 7:00am , MummyLo told DaddyLo there could be something going on, but couldn't be sure. 7:10am, it's about 8mins apart. But not always on time. It doesn't hurt that much either. 8am - MummyLo decided to tell Grandma Mak. She was questioning herself whether this is the time, is it real ? 8am to 1pm - MummyLo was in bed the whole time. It is real. It was a numbing sensation that comes in waves. MummyLo called the Westmead hospital and they said that early contractions are like that. MummyLo thought that she will also have tightingings in the tummy area as well. 1pm - contractions were 5mins apart. DaddyLo and Grandpa Mak persuaded MummyLo to go to the hospital now instead of waiting for the contractions to get more severe. MummyLo was worried that she has to sit around and wait for people while she is in pain. 1:30pm- midwive checked CTG. Your heartrate was good. My cervix was 4cm dilated. 4pm - my cervix is still 4cm dilated. I used hot shower as my initial pain relief. MummyLo just want to be knocked out until you were ready to come out. I asked for gas (nitrous oxide) for pain relief because MummyLo didn't want to be tired of pain when it comes to the hard pushing part. 5pm- Dr Chua came to examine MummyLo and he broke the water as a method to speed up your arrival. From then on, the contractions were nasty. It was close together and each wave was a hard wave. The gas didn't help much at all. It actually stopped me from breathing properly for pain relief. 8:30pm- MummyLo was about 8-9cm dilated. She was urging for someone to check just in case BabyLo is ready to come out already and no one was paying attention. MummyLo has a strong urge to push with every contractions, but the nurse was asking MummyLo not to push because the cervix is not fully dilated. I told them I can't help but to push. 9pm onwards - Dr. Chua was here to help now. MummyLo was told to push 3 times hard and long with every contractions. But MummyLo was half out of breath. With every push, MummyLo cannot last as long as Dr Chua tells her to. But they said that I have very good push. And BabyLo will soon be arriving. With every contraction, DaddyLo and Grandma Mak stood by my side and yelled for encouragement. I squeezed DaddyLo's hand tightly. So lucky to have DaddyLo by my side. And every time GrandmaMak yelled for encouragment, it really gave MummyLo strength to withstand the pain. Dr Chua said that your head is half out, the next push, the baby will land on your tummy. That sentence was the most beautiful sentence of the night. It was so promising. So with the next contraction, MummyLo pushed with all her might. BabyLo came out bubbling with mucous and blood and landed on MummyLo's tummy. It was a great sensation. It's done. MummyLo woke up from the misery of pushing you out and was filled with joy. All MummyLo could think of that moment is .. it's done, it's over ! As soon as they rubbed BabyLo, you started crying and vomiting out mucous. I waited for the delivery of the placenta. A big blood mass but it was interesting and Dr Chua was explaining to me where you were. You measured 3.27kg, 51.5cm long, head circumference is 34cm, 37 degrees celcius and your Apgar score is 9. Poor MummyLo had a first degree tear and had to be stitched up. The next few hours was the most relaxing hours of the night. I sat there to wait until you were cleaned, then i breastfed you for the very first time. You were a good feeder, quick to learn and fast to feed. Then it was the most anticipated shower, even though when I got out of bed, I was followed by a blood trail. 1:30am- BabyLo did another poob. And happily slept through the night. MummyLo was worried the whole night about BabyLo and had to check for breathing every 5mins. Tonight was a long night. But it was overwhelming with emotions. My sleep was much disrupted that night, but i still had a sweet dream.

BabyLo - the prequel

Where should MummyLo begin. Okay, let's date back 3 weeks prior to your birth.
From Week 38 onwards, everyone under the Lo and Mak's household were filled with aniticipation. Every phone call that MummyLo make, people were expecting that it would be the news of your arrival. From then on, MummyLo avoid calling DaddyLo at work, because every time she calls, he would be excited to see if I was in labour. Grandma Mak and Grandma Lo stayed with us the whole time to look after all our meals and duties and be by MummyLo's side in case anything happens.
It started off being alright, we waited patiently and stayed at home most time just to be safe. As time goes by, we were getting abit bored and anxious. Every day, we joke about your arrival, and what we should do then. But the wait dragged on, in order to make time less miserable, your GrandmaLo and Grandma Mak brought MummyLo to yum cha, RSL clubs and shopping centers, places that are within 15mins of the hospital.
By Week 40, GrandPa Lo was getting really agitated too. He would ask MummyLo every day how I felt and whether I have any signs of labour. No signs yet...
On the 29th of March, we were all waiting, as 1st of March is your expected dued date. It was a saturaday, DaddyLo and MummyLo waited and waited and didn't want to go far from home. Yet, nothing happens. On the 2nd of March was Grandpa Lo's birthday, he was hoping that you will be his birthday present. He called MummyLo at 9am in the morning, 12pm and 5pm again that day to see whether you are on your way.
Week 41 was the most miserable. You were due any time and knowing that, MummyLo was a bit weary of going to places and sitting in someone elses' car. I had to carry a towel with me whereever I go.
On the 5th of March, we have to visit Dr Chua. He had to check whether my cervix is ready so that I would know whether I need the gel for the scheduled induction on the 10th of March. My cervix was 1cm dilated and I had the show.
On the 6th of March, my mucous plug was dislodged.
On the 7th of March, we had the CTG scan for you. In the morning, we went to yum cha and played a bit of pokies. We then went to shop more towels for you. DaddyLo joined us for the CTG check. Your heartrate was good and I have slight activity of tightingnings. At night, they were naughty enough to bring MummyLo to a sushi bar at eastwood. MummyLo was good and ate mostly cooked food even though I was very tempted to have the raw scampi. I thought it would be better to hold off until I see you arrive safely.
